“There has been a loss of confidence across the
board” said Richard Miller, “with almost all regions, demographic groups and
income groups of employees less optimistic than they were in March 2015.”
Only a handful of regions remain optimistic
about employment
The regions who are most pessimistic about employment
are Waikato (down 10.4 to 96.9), Northland (down 10.1 to 90.2) and
“Public Sector employees are now pessimistic
(down 9.5 points this quarter to 96.1 CCI), while Private Sector employees
retain their optimism (but down 3.2 points to 107.6 CCI). Uncertainty about the effectiveness of
government policy in stimulating growth over the coming year could underlie the
conjectured shift”, suggested Richard Miller.
